On July 2, authorities busted a large drug distribution operation running out of a Stillwater home. It was reportedly one of the largest drug busts ever conducted in the city.
According to the Stillwater Police Department, the bust was initiated when officers spotted a man with a known drug history leaving a residence on the 3000 block of S. West Street, and police executed a traffic stop for a moving violation. During the stop, officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found more than 2,000 hits of LSD. They arrested the driver and used the drug evidence to obtain a search warrant for the residence. During a search of the home, officers uncovered a huge stash of drugs worth an estimated $160,000. As a result, the occupant of the home, a 25-year-old man, was taken into custody.
An inventory of the seized drugs includes 2,876 grams of THC in the form of marijuana, edibles, wax and oils; 49 grams of LSD; 120 grams of MDMA; 25 grams of ecstasy tablets; 1,096 grams of psilocybin mushrooms; and 17 grams of Xanax bars. Officers also seized around $26,884 in cash and several handwritten ledgers listing drug sales. The occupant of the home has been charged with felony aggravated trafficking of LSD, felony aggravated trafficking of MDMA, felony aggravated trafficking of ecstasy, felony possession of CDS-psilocybin mushrooms with the intent to distribute and felony possession of CDS-THC with the intent to distribute. His next court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 9.
If convicted, individuals charged with drug trafficking and other drug crimes could be sentenced to years in prison and assessed heavy fines. A defense attorney may represent a defendant in court and develop a defense strategy based on the evidence. This might help the defendant successfully fight the charges or obtain a plea deal that reduces the penalty.
