Defending Oklahoma City’s Firearm Rights

Most people in Oklahoma City are familiar with their second amendment rights. However, not everyone understands all the repercussions of those rights, and under which circumstances they may be removed or violated.

If you have been arrested due to gun charges, you need an experienced attorney at your defense. Former prosecutor J. Patrick Quillian understands both sides of the law and offers aggressive gun charges defense. Our firm will help you navigate the terms of your rights based on your past experiences.

Defense For Illegal Firearm Use Allegations In Oklahoma

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), an Oklahoma resident must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old, who has passed a recognized gun safety course to be granted a permit to carry.

While many firearm offenses are considered misdemeanors in Oklahoma, offenses such as armed robbery, shooting with the intent to kill, and assault with a deadly weapon are automatic felonies, with a maximum penalty of life behind bars. Allowing a minor possession of a firearm carries multiple implications.

Though not every firearms offense was committed intentionally, it is crucial to defend against these charges thoroughly and aggressively. Our lawyers accept cases including, but not limited to:

  • Unlawfully carrying or transporting a loaded firearm
  • Firing a weapon under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Use of deadly force
  • Manufacturing illegal ammunition
  • Use, or possession, of a firearm by a felon
  • Forced sexual contact or domestic assault through threats with a firearm

If you have a misdemeanor on your record, it is in your best interest not to carry a firearm. A previous felony conviction, or pending felony charge, prohibits your right to bear arms.
